The municipality of Ancient Olympia (19,675 inhabitants in 2001; 54,488 ha) was formed in the 2011 local government reform by the merger of the four former municipalities of Ancient Olympia, Folói, Lámpeia and Lasióna.
Olympia is known for having been the site of the Olympic Games in classical times. Its sanctuary, known as the Altis, consists of several buildings, and in the sacred enclosure were the Temple of Hera and Temple of Zeus. Olympia is also known for the gigantic ivory and gold statue of Zeus that used to stand there, sculpted by Pheidias, which was one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World according to Antipater of Sidon.

Former flag of Ancient Olympia - Image by Olivier Touzeau, 4 November 2012
The flag of the former municipality of Ancient Olympia (11,069 inhabitants in 2001; 14,750 ha) was white with the municipal emblem and the name of the municipality beneath (Kokkonis website).
The emblem is a circular golden disc with in blue lines what probably is a
portrait of Zeus.
I have not found any evidence of the use of this flag by the new
municipality.
