The symbols of Daruvar (municipal website) are prescribed by Decision Odluka o grbu i zastavi Grada Daruvara, adopted on 22 September 1997 by the Town Assembly but, seemingly, never published in any official gazette. The Decisiosn was amended as Odluka o izmjeni i dopuni Odluke o grbu i
zastavi Grada Daruvara, adopted on 24 June 1998.
The symbols were approved on 18 May 1998 by the Ministry of Administration.
The symbols are described in the Town Statutes Statut Grada Daruvara, adopted on 1 September 2009 and published in the Town official gazette Službeni glasnik Grada Daruvara, No. 6. This is repeated in the current Town Statutes Statut Grada Daruvara, adopted on 28 February 2013 and published the same day in Službeni glasnik Grada Daruvara, No. 1 (text).
The symbols were designed by Vjekoslav Lavo Masten, a painter from Daruvar.
The flag is prescribed in Article 9 of the Town Statutes as "blue, in proportions 1:2, with the coat of arms in the middle, shown on both sides of the flag". On the flags in use, the coat of arms has no outline, a yellow outline, or a white outline.

The original Decision prescribes the flag with a yellow outline along the three outer edges and a yellow fringe along the fly end. Such a flag was probably never actually produced.

The coat of arms is described in Article 7 of the Town Statutes as "in red on a green triple mount a silver citadel with four towers and
embattlements built over two gray arches. The outer towers are
somewhat higher than the inner ones. In the centre of the towers there
are oblong doors. At the embattlements in the centre is a silver crane
looking to the left, holding in its leg a stone, symbolizing the
everlasting vigilance at watch."
Article 8 of the Town Statutes refers to a document of the State Archives, issued on 4 March 1995, confirming the historical coat of arms of the Town.
The coat of arms is based on the coat of arms of the Janković von Daruvar family, the rulers of the town from at least the 16th century. In the 18th century they were granted the title of Counts, both Hungarian and Austrian. The arms are canting, the name of the town meaning "Crane Town" in Hungarian.

The table flag is a vertical, triangularly ending flag with a white border along the edges, the coat of arms, outlined in white, in the centre, and the name of the Town written in black "Fraktur" font in two lines below it.

Former flag, arms and table flag of Daruvar, three used variants - Images by Željko Heimer, 3 April 2014
The Town originally adopted in 1993 a somewhat different set of symbols, prescribed in the first Town Statutes, and superseded in 1997 by the current symbols.
The coat of arms was designed in the "Hungarian-shaped"
shield, and with the background field coloured blue. There were some
other minor artistic differences (a smaller crane, detailed lines
showing the masonry, etc.).
The flag was light blue with that coat of arms in the
centre, a golden yellow fringe on the outer edges and a tricolour
ribbon, prescribed as a streamer above the flag on the staff.
The table flag produced in the period was a light blue vertical flag
with the coat of arms above the name of the Town written in black "Fraktur" font on a single line.
