Presentation of Budinščina

The municipality of Budinščina has just above 3,000 inhabitants, the main village bearing the same name just over 600 inhabitants.
The 1992 Law on the administrative division of Croatia listed the municipality as "Budinšćina". The municipality itself as well as the 1997 and subsequent Laws use the form "Budinščina". The latter is the local dialect form, while the former is what would be correct in standard language.

Flag of Budinščina

The symbols of Budinščina are prescribed by Decision Odluka o opisu i uporabi grba i zastave Općine Budinščina, adopted on 13 April 1995 by the Municipality Assembly and published on 19 May 1995 in the County official gazette Službeni glasnik Županije Krapinsko-zagorske, No. 5.

The flag (photo in the Municipality journal, Glas Budinščine, No. 4, 2010) is prescribed as "in rectangular shape coloured orange, made of silk. The coat of arms is set in the upper half of the flag, so that the lower edge of the coat of arms touches the centre of the flag".

The coat of arms is prescribed as follows.

... in shield shape, divided vertically into two fields joined with a white cross. The outer edge is golden (yellow). The left half of the coat of arms is blue and the right half is green (coloured). The coat of arms is dominated by two griffins looking at each other, coloured orange, this being a combination of symbols found in the arms of the Patačić and Gotal families, who lived and owned castles and lands on the territory of the current Municipality of Budinščina.
