The symbols of Vrbovsko are prescribed by Decision Odluka o grbu i zastavi Grada Vrbovskog, adopted on 13 July 1998 by the Town Assembly and published on 4 August 1998 in the County official gazette Službene novine Primorsko-goranske županije, No. 16. The symbols were adopted in a public contest set up by Decision Odluka o raspisivanju natjecaja za izradu idejnog rješenja grba i zastave Grada Vrbovskog, adopted on 12 December 1997 and published on 29 December 1997 in Službene novine Primorsko-goranske županije, No. 29. The coat of arms is "Per fess or an eagle displayed sable beaked, langued and membered gules and azure a bridge between two cliffs argent".
According to Oštrić [osg02], Vrbovsko was granted civic status and a coat of arms at the same time in 1785 by Emperor Joseph II. The grant of arms includes the rich painting of the coat of arms within a circular annulet and a baroque landscape scene, but the main part of the arms was the same as today.
