The village of Bast (ancient, Biston; 136 inh.), the original settlement in the area, some 2-3 km away in the mountains from the coastline, forms a local community within the municipality of Baška Voda.

The flag of Bast (photo) is light blue flag with the coat of arms, outlined in white, set next to the hoist.
The coat of arms (image) depicts the silhouette of the Biokovo mountain range, sheep, a traditional stone house, the church of St. Roch (15th century), an olive twig, and a medieval funerary stele (stečak) with two swords. "Bast" is inscribed in the chief with the ancient Roman name, "Biston", and the year "610" as well as the year "1434" when the current village's name was first recorded.
