The municipality of Lokvičići (1,037 inhabitants in 2001, 582 in the village of Lokvičići) is located about 60 km east of Split, relatively high above the sea level (600-700 m).
Just north of Lokvičići are three karstic lakes, being karstic holes filled with water, similar to the much more famous Imotski Red and Blue lakes nearby.
Until 1997 the area of Lokvičići was an exclave of the Town of Imotski, from which it separated, adding parts of the former municipality of Donji Proložac, today Proložac.

Coat of arms of Lokvičići - Image by Željko Heimer, 26 July 2013
The coat of arms of Lokvičići was designed by the Heraldic Art d.o.o. company, from Rijeka, and approved by the Ministry of Administration / Central State Office for Administration before 2006.
The coat of arms is "Argent an eagle displayed gules beaked, armed and membered or and in the base three puddles azure, two over one.
The arms are canting, lokve meaning "puddle" in Croatian. The three puddles probably refer to the three karstic lakes.
