Presentation of Okrug

Okrug is located on the Ciovo island, just off the coast of the town of Trogir, where it is connected to it by a bridge, occupying the western part of the island. The municipality was established in 1997 by secession from the Town of Trogir. It has about 3,000 inhabitants in two villages named Okrug Gornji and Okrug Donji, the first being also the seat of the municipal administration.

Flag of Okrug

The symbols of Okrug (municipal website) are prescribed by Statutory Decision Statutarna odluka o opisu i uporabi grba i zastave Općine Okrug, adopted on 31 October 2007 by the Municipality Assembly and published the same day in the Municipality official gazette Službeni glasnik Općine Okrug, No. 5 (text).
The symbols were approved on 28 September 2007 by the Central State Office for Administration.
The symbols are described in the Municipality Statutes Statut Općine Okrug, adopted on 30 July 2009 by the Municipality Assembly and published on 31 July 2009 in Službeni glasnik Općine Okrug, No. 9 (text).

The symbols were designed by the Heraldic Art d.o.o. company, from Rijeka.

The flag (photos) is in proportions 1:2, light blue with the coat of arms, bordered yellow, in the middle.

The table flag is in the shape of a triangularly ending ceremonial flag, with the coat of arms in the centre, the name of the municipality above and golden branches below.

The coat of arms is "Azure a sea horse gules surrounded in chief with two pyrethrum flowers argent seeded or".

Pyrethrum (Tanacetum cinerarifolium or Chrysanthemum cinerarifolium) is locally known as buvar and buhač in standard Croatian). Also known as Dalmatian chrysanthemum or big daisy, pyrethrum is a natural source of insecticide, nowadays industrially exploited and cultivated in the community for such use (especially, as a mosquito repellent.

The ceremonial flag is, as it is the case for a few other municipalities, not of the same basic color as the official flag. It is a pale yellow gonfalon ending triangularly with a yellow fringe, with the coat of arms in the centre of it, the name of the municipality above and olive and grapevine branches below.
