Local Council Deir Hanna is situated in Sah'nin Valley in the
Lower Galilee, east to Arabe and about 10 km NW to Golani
crossroads. Local Council from 1975 with 7,000 inh., 90% Muslims
and 10% Christians. In my visit I spotted a white flag with blue
emblem and inscriptions in both languages, flying over the brand
new city hall. The municipal emblem was published in the official
gazette (Rashumot), 'Publications Gazette' section (Yalkut
ha'Pirsumim), YP 3748, 4 March 1990.

According to the Christians in this village, the origin of the
name is "Yo'hanan [John] Monastery (Deir, in
Arabic, is Monastery). In the village there is a fort that built
by Dahr Al-Omar, ruler of the Gallile in the 18th Century.
