Local Council Shelomi is situated in Western Galilee, 12 km
northeast of Nahariyya and only a few
kms from the Lebanese border. It is named
after the biblical figure A'hi'ud Ben-Shlomi of the Asher tribe (Numbers 34,27). Established in
1956 and Local Council since 1960. Pop. 4,500.
During my visit I spotted the municipal flag on the city hall,
light blue flag with dark blue emblem. In this image from <www.cityindex.co.il>,
there are unidentified red and white flags, so those colours may
be used too. The municipal emblem was published in the official
gazette (Rashumot, Yalkut HaPirsumim), YP 875, 7
September 1961.
