Qiryat Mal'akhi (or Kiryat Mal'akhi, literally meaning town
of my angel and the name of a prophet) is situated near a
major road cross (Zomet A'him (meaning 'Brothers Cross' but
better known by its previous Arabic name, Kastina Cross) of roads
3 (Ashqelon-Jerusalem
) and 40 (main road to Be'er Sheva ),
59 km north to Be'er Sheva. It belongs to South District,
Ashqelon Sub-District. Established in 1950 as temporary new
immigrants settlement named Kastina and renamed in 1952 to its
current name. It appeared as Local Council in the 1993 map, but
was later upgraded to rank of municipality.
I spotted unofficial flags with the emblem in natural colours on
white, black emblem on yellow and blue emblem on light blue.
There could be other variants too. The municipal emblem was
published in the official gazette (Rashumot, Yalkut
HaPirsumim), YP 792, 21 September 1960, for the then Local
Council.

The name of Qiriat Mal'akhi was inspired by Los Angeles, California (U.S.) as tribute
to its aid to Israel. Municipality since 1998.
The municipal
website present a new
flag with national background, so it seems that Qiryat
Mal'akhi decided to replace its multicolor flags
with a new design.
