Description

Regional Council Matte Asher (homepage here) is situated between the Lebanese border in the North and the Krayot area in the south, ranging from the sea coast in the west and the western Galilee ridge (Karmiel-Ma'alot line) in the east. Altogether 31 settlements with 18,000 inh. I got a black and white logo which I coloured according to instructions given by Mrs. Sima Shim'oni of the Regional Library:

  1. Brown aqueduct (representing the beutiful Ottoman aqueduct connecting Kabri springs and Akko)
  2. Green tree
  3. Light blue waves
  4. Blue inscription
  5. White background

The municipal emblem was published in the official gazette (Rashumot), YP 3832, 3 January 1991.

Confirmed as emblem on white. The brown colour sems to me more reddish than mine.

The natural colors emblem on white that I reported is still there, but now accompanied by white emblem on various bedsheets (light blue, yellow and orange-red were spotted, but probably more exists)

Last Saturday, I drove near Ye'hi'am Convoy Memorial just as the traditional Ye'hi'am Marching was held. There was a lot of flags of the Regional Council which organize the marching in almost any color available:
Yellow background (emblem green), Orange (white), light blue (dark blue), red (white), green (white), blue (white), and I probably missed some....
This Regional Council govern 19 Kibbutz's, 9 Moshav's, 2 Communities, Arab village and Bedouin community center including Local Committee (Forner Local Council) of Shave Ziyyon.
It also govern the area previously used by the dissolved Local Council of Hatzrot Yasaf .
It was founded in 1982 by unification of three former Regional Councils (Sullam Tzor, Ga'aton and Na'aman) and named after the biblical tribe of Asher. (Matte means "stick", as a reminder to the way the country was divided between the tribes, and therefore it means: part or estate of the tribe).

"State of Akhziv"

The only MicroNation that do exist in Israel, is the State of Akhziv. It was declared in 1971 by its founder, Eli Avivi, in a small compound on the sea shore of Akhziv, 5 Kms north to Nahariyya. The state has two citizens (Eli Avivi and his wife, Rina) and according to him, its flag is "the legendary mermaid on Akhziv background" and its emblem "a torch blazing in darkness". I visited there few times and yet to see a real flag.
