Sherun HaBitahon HaKlali (lit. Security General Service), is
usually known by its initials SHABAK.
The SHABAK is in charge on Anti-espionage, anti-terrorism (in the
local arena), VIP's security, Assets (planes, embassies, etc...)
security and other local tasks.
The flag of the SHABAK is white and charged with its logo. The
logo includes its motto: Magen VeLo Yira'e (defend and not seen).

However I don't not see the above flag [top of page] listed under "Israeli Security
Agency" or "Shin Bet" – but it is listed there as: "Shabak". Because the
flag image shows the English words "Israeli Security Agency", might this flag be posted
under that name? As well as listed as "Shin Bet" – as "Shin Bet" is referenced in
the photo's caption? (Even the flag's source article in the Israeli Jerusalem Post refers to
this agency as the "Shin Bet" rather than as "Shabak").

Shin Bet and Shabak are different names for the same organization: the Israeli domestic security
service. Shin Bet are the initials for "Sherut Bitachon" (Security Service), Shabak is an acronyme
for "Sherut haBitachon haKlali" (General Security Service). The English name they chose for
themselves is "Israeli Security Agency" which you read on the flag. I don't know why they chose
two different names for the same thing, maybe an Israeli can tell us one day (There are two other
security services: Mossad, the foreign security service, and Aman, the security service of the IDF).
[We took up Bill Garrison's suggestion and renamed the page to Israeli Security Agency (Shabak/Shin Bet)]
