Lieutenant-Governor of the Isle of Man, adopted 1999.
Pascal Vagnat,
25 September 1998
In
Album des Pavillons (2000), the Lieutenant-Governor's flag is depicted, this
being of the usual format with the Triskelion on a red shield positioned in the
centre of a laurel garland which defaces the British Union Flag. Rudi Longueville's book "Badges of the British Commonwealth" 1998
edition, is in agreement with Album, and has the Triskelion on a shield and
gives us an adoption date of 1968. In the same publication, a different
form of Triskelion is shown with the legs running in a clockwise
direction and matching the illustration in "The international flag book in
colour" by Christian Fogd Pedersen 1970. No adoption date is given for this
version but does give us an abolition at 1968! This flag would surely have
changed in 1999 to suit the new-style Governor's Union with a gold ring
underneath the laurel garland.

In the Observers book of flags (1966), the shield is more traditional in appearance
and is more squared-off than the version from 1968.
