"INAS (International Sports
Federation for Persons with Intellectual Disability; originally called
INAS-FMH, later INAS-FID, INAS and now as Virtus) was established in
January 1986 by professionals in the Netherlands who were involved in
sport and wanted to promote the participation of athletes with mental
handicap in elite sports. The organisation's brand name is the
International Federation for Intellectual Impairment Sport, promoting
sport worldwide for athletes with an Intellectual Disability, Autism

INAS announced a substantial rebranding and will henceforth be known

The International Sports Federation for
Persons with and Intellectual Disability was founded in 1986, using the
former name of the International Association for Persons with Mental
Handicap.
57 nations are affiliated with the federation. The logo in the
center of the white flag is a world map surrounded by a band with the name
of the Federation, which embraces the world.
The outlines of the continents
are blue.

A second former flag was also seen, featuring the second logo variant
(in blue as well), in use since 1999. The current flag is the current logo over a white horizontal
background. The Virtus is the emblem of World Intellectual Impairment
Sport. It represents how both the federation and the athletes join
forces in sport for people with intellectual impairments. The
rebranding process was carried out by the company Blue Strawberry
Elephant.
