Comunità Montana Valsesia is located in Piedmont, in Vercelli
Province, next to Valle d'Aosta Region, on the southern slopes of
Santa Rosa Massif.
Valsesia is inhabited largely by the Germanic people, speaking
Walser, an allemanic dialect, who settled there in the Middle
Ages.
Valsesians are the part of the larger Walser
nation found in Italy, Switzerland, Liechtenstein and Austria.
The Community enjoys a broad cultural autonomy and significant
degree of self-government. The capital is in the village of
Alagna (Im Land, in Walser), a skiing paradise.
The flag of Valsesia was reported in Jaume Ollé's "Flag
Report" some years ago alonside several other variants of
it. It appears also at "Bandiere
dei Popoli" with different stripes' arrangement and in
combination with the Walser flag, and at some Padanian websites
featuring flags of its components. More info at: <www.valsesia.it>
and Italian
wikipedia.
The flag features the golden Valsesian eagle holding two
mountain-tops in its claws, between which is a valley with the
flowing river. All this is superimposed on the field of eight
alternating white and green stripes. The motto of Valsesia says:
"Semper Eadem Nec Mutor In Fide".
