Two versions of the flag of the longtime ruling Liberal Democratic Party of Japan can be seen in two photos. It is a dark bluish-purple (plum?) field with a chrysanthemum-like emblem, consisting of two characters stylized into the shape of a circle surrounded by fourteen petals, all in white outline. I think the characters are 自民, "Liberal Democratic." The second flag adds a vertical row of five characters near the hoist, apparently the full name of the party: 自由民主党.
The party also has a more modern-looking logo, which may (?) be used on more casual electioneering flags.

The nickname of the party in Japanese is 自民党 (Jimintou). Its symbol mark (logo) can be seen here

The flag was introduced in 1955.

It says "the LDP also has a more modern-looking logo, which may (?) be used
on more casual electioneering flags.

The English translation of the logo meaning is as follows:
LPD symbol mark=logo represents people who live freely under the bright sun. The
logo expresses the world that LPD aims at and the posture LPD seeks for clear
politics. The two people are family, brother, friends, neighbor, Japan and
neighboring country, Japan and the world sometimes. The bright sun showers the
two people with warm and equal affection. The blue stands for sky, ocean green
for the earth and yellow for affection from the sun.
