The municipal flag of Beirut – light blue with the city's coat of arms – is shown in a Flickr photo (caption: "Beirut Vice Mayor Tawfik Kfuri and Mayor Abdel Mounimariss present [...] Beirut flag"). The flag's coat of arms is slightly different from the standalone version; the background of the central compartment with the galley is an even lighter light blue (as opposed to the arms, where it is white.)

The Beirut coat of arms is a shield gules with a fess argent charged with a Phoenician galley with a horse-head prow and five oarsmen on rolling gold-edged blue waves, transporting a large open white book with inscriptions in Latin ("BERYTUS NUTRIX LEGUM") and Arabic (?). I understand that the book alludes to a prominent school of law established in Beirut during the Late Roman period. The shield is surmounted with a heavily stylized golden mural crown charged with the national cedar. This is basically identical to – albeit a handsomer rendition of – the municipal CoA as shown at Wikipedia, only there the upper red band bears the Arabic inscription "[something] Beirut," presumably "City of."
