A (very dark) blue flag with four (dark) red and blue stripes forming a
rectangle at the lower fly but not touching the bottom edge and on the upper
hoist canton, as usual, the national flag.
António Martins, 02 Sep 2008
Dark blue is for loyalty, the stripes for the four Grand Basa
men who signed Liberia’s Declaration of Independence.
Željko Heimer, 08 Jan 2000, quoting from
[smi75b]
The image above was based probably on
[smi75b]
or some such source, and holds no significant difference against the
$1 1990 postage stamp issued by Liberia,
except for the size of the canton (slightly smaller in
[smi75b]) and the width of the main
stripes (slightly shorter in [smi75b]).
A more recent issuing, the $25 2008 stamp,
shows bigger differences.
António Martins, 02 Sep 2008
The $25 2008 stamp shows a national
flag in the canton much larger than in
[smi75b] (image above),
and the bottom fly stripes are shorter than half the width of the flag and
thus positioned that the bottom blue gap is as wide as any of the stripes,
while the white and blue stripped area is as high as the canton.
