Overview

Alytus district - on red background the arms of Alytus District: three growing proper lilies. Flag proportions 5:6, free edges bordered with tight golden strip, finial is golden lily. The arms comes from the "second" arms of Alytus city, used in 1792-1795 and in 1920-1940. Its origin is probably the arms of noble Orlowski family, which helped the city in restoration of municipal rights revoked in 1776. As the traditional rose is restored for Alytus city now, the "vacant" local symbol is granted to the district.
