Pandelys (Rokiskis District) - on a green field a flying
golden armed silver falcon with two red pinions on the left wing
holds a golden branch of oak, on the golden chief 6 red 7-pointed
stars, among them second in line a blue crescent. Flag
proportions 5:6, free edges bordered with a narrow silver stripe,
the finial is a silver lance head. The 7-pointed stars represent
the days of week, and the second day in the old Latin calendar is
Monday symbolized by Moon, so the name of town is reflected: it
originates from Polish "poniedzialek"
("Monday"). The injured falcon represents the fight for
freedom of Lithuania (inhabitants of Pandelys participated
actively in uprisings of 1831, 1863, 1905, independence war of
1918-1920 and especially in guerrilla warfare, which lasted there
since 1944 till 1950ies), and the branch of oak symbolizes
fortitude.
