Luoke (Telsiai District) - on a red field the arms of Luoke:
three flames over a three-hill. Flag proportions 5:6, finial is a
silver tip, staff is silver. There is ambiguity about the
bordure: the picture shows a green stripe on the free edges, but
the description says "free edges bordered with silver
rope". I propose in this case following the practice of the
Lithuanian Heraldry Commission itself: when they see an
ambiguity between a picture and a description, they prefer the
picture, as text errors are much more often and easier made. The
three-hill means the legendary Satrija hill (also known as
Pasatrija castle-mound), and flames mean first of all the signal
flames of Samogitian castles, used for warning each other and the
environs about the attacks of Teutonic Order. Also many
other meanings are "in background": the ancient pagan
sanctuary and its eternal flame, the legendary Jauteryte's grave,
the witches' night jamborees etc.
