The municipality of Makedonska Kamenica (8,110 inhabitants; 190.37 sq. km) is located in north-eastern North Macedonia, on the border with Bulgaria. It is made of the mining town of Makedonska Kamenica and the settlements of Dulica, Kosevica, Kostin Dol, Lukovica, Mošica, Sasa, Todorovci and Cera.
The pride of Makedonska Kamenica is the lead and zinc mine "Sasa",
employing 1,200 workers. The mine, once owned by the state, was opened
to privatization in 2002. The privatization process was quite
complicated and it seems that the current owner of Sasa is the Canadian
mining group Erin Ventures.
The Monument to the Miners and The National Hero - Vera Jocić was
erected in Makedonska Kamenica) by the Macedonian sculptor Tome
Serafimovski (b. 1935, elected a member of the Macedonian Academy of
Sciences and Arts on 7 October 1988).

The flag of Makedonska Kamenica (Macedonian Ministry of Local Self-Government website, page no longer online), is green with a red triangle in upper hoist and a black triangle in lower fly; a variant of the "Sun of Vergina" is placed in the middle of the flag. That "Sun of Vergina" is not strictly equivalent to the one used in the first North Macedonian flag, by having rays of different width (eight bigger and eight smaller).
