Willem-Alexander and Maxima photo-flag

[Willem-Alexander and Maxima photo-flag] image from this webpage, reported by Jarig Bakker, 9 Jan 2002

Yesterday I saw the first flag wappering in Amsterdam, a photo taken on the occasion of the engagement of crown-prince Willem Alexander with the Argentine beauty Maxima Zorreguieta. In the canton is the Dutch flag.
The wedding will take place in my little village on 2 Feb 2002 and it is expected that once again Amsterdam will be in total mayhem. For security reasons I'll stay home!

A flag for Princess Amalia

[A flag for Princess Amalia] image by Jarig Bakker, 9 December 2003

Via Benevex Strefan Lambrechts sent the winning design for a flag for the Princess born two days ago, whose name is Catharina-Amalia Beatrix Carmen Victoria - Amalia in short, daughter of Crown-Prince Willem Alexander and princess Máxima.
Sanne van Duren of the Beemden-school in Boxtel (Noord-Brabant province), is the winner of the flag-design-competition. Her design will become a real flag, which will be presented to Willem-Alexander and Máxima. Sanne and her whole class win an excursion to the Dokkumer Vlaggen Centrale, accompanied by a battery of TV-cameras, which can be seen 16.55 p.m. on the Dutch Z@ppelin (Nederland 3), and later on this site. My gif is how it could look like, but perhaps the flagmakers have other ideas...
Two weeks ago a Coat of Arms was already granted, but it will be some 18 years from now before she will get her (official) personal flag.
Jarig Bakker, 9 December 2003

This is how it will actually look? I don't know whether to be appalled or delighted! From a vexillo-point of view it is frightening - three shades of blue and a stick cartoon. But I had to smile when I saw that goofy bird.

Speculative Princess of Orange

[A flag for Princess Amalia] image by Peter Hans van den Muijzenberg and Mark Sensen, 2 April 2019

As yet there's no standard for the Princess of Orange and Princesses Alexia and Ariane. The flag will first be introduced when Princess Amalia comes of age in 2021. We can guess from the pattern of the previous two generations, Princesses' Standard and Prince Willem-Alexander, that it will be a forked orange flag with a Nassau blue cross and the crowned National Arms on an orange disc in the centre. In the first quarter is a Nassau bugle as in the Royal Standard, and in the lower hoist a yellow stronghold [standing for the Princess of Orange's and her sisters' parents Arms]..
