The flag is blue over green with in the center a yellow disk charged
with the black (outlined) spire of the Roman Catholic church, the village
name in black in the form of a cross, as well as three flowers.
Meaning: blue: sky, green: agriculture; yellow: sun/village; flowerbulbs
and the RC church.
The village was founded in 1942. Its name is derived from a settlement
near Kuinre (Overijssel), which was fortified against Frisian pirates in
1379. "Luttel" = little, and "geest" is soil at the border of clay
and sand. As the flag implies flower-cultivation plays an important rôle
in the community, as well as pig-keeping (my uncle kept quite a few out
there). A special point of interest is the "Orchideeën hoeve"
(Orchid farm).
