Harskamp village

Harskamp is famous in the Netherlands because of the military establishment in this village in the municipality of Ede, Gelderland. Nearly every Dutch family has someone who was passing some useful time over there, although the village is almost unknown.
However Mr. Anton Jansen discovered a Coat of Arms in a museum in The Hague, entitled "Hars(c)(k)amp". He proved that this belonged to a family Harskamp, which had been living in the Veluwe-region, where the present village lies. He convinced the villagers that this was indeed their Coat of Arms, and because it was relatively simple a flag was designed, which was identical to the image of the Coat of Arms; that was adopted in 1980.
Coat of Arms: in silver per saltire a red and blue cross (in Dutch: In zilver een van rood en blauw schuingevierendeeld aflopend kruis)
Flag: white with a cross over the center, of which the arms have the same width of 1/4 flagheight; somehow it is red and blue.

According to a message by Pascal Vagnat on the Francovex list, the Counts of Harskamp were lords of Profondeville (Belgium) from 1644 onwards and their arms were granted to the municipality in 1956.
It doesn't end here - 'Harscamp' is the name of a ward of Namur (BE) a hospital, a former hotel, a shopping mall, a street in Aachen (Germany), etc.  I believe the title "Comte d'Harscamp" is still being borne.
