Blazon: I rødt en gull spore. In English: Gules a spur or, rowel to chief.
(I write rowel to chief, since the usual position of spur in arms, according to
Parker, is with the rowel downwards. cf.

The design represents the golden spur found at Rød in Rygge, being one of the
finest golden artefacts from the Viking era found in Norway. The original spur
had a pointed end, but it is shown with a rowel in the arms, to make it more
recognizable to what it is. Also, the rowel wheel is depicted rotated 90° along
the point axis then a wheel would normally be in a spur - for the same reason of
recognisibility (just like the crossbar of an anchor is so depicted regularly,
and other similar kinds of heraldic abstractions). The actual Rygge spur is
