Poniec - urban-rural commune, Gostyń County, Wielkopolskie Voivodship - German name: Punitz.
Gmina Poniec is an urban-rural gmina (commune) in Gostyń County, Greater Poland Voivodship, in west-central Poland. Its seat is the town of Poniec, which lies
approximately 20 kilometres (12 mi) south-west of Gostyń and 72 km (45 mi) south of the regional capital Poznań.
Area: 132.32 sq.km (51.1 sq.mi); Population: 7,866 (2006).

The Battle of Punitz occurred nearby on 28 October 1704 during the Great Northern War between Saxon and Swedish armies.

Arms and flag adopted on April 22, 2005 (resolution # XXVIII/183/2005).
"Arms: on a red shield and on green grass two silver towers with green roofs and between them, a six-pointed gold star.

Flag: rectangular piece of cloth in the ratio 5:8 composed of three vertical bands: green-white-green. The side bands, green, are 1/5 of the width of the flag each.
On the middle, wide, field the Arms are placed centrally."

The color of the middle band is not given in the law. I assumed it is white after reading lenghtly protocols of the discussions of the commune's council sessions.
NB: The 2004 proposals, except the second Coat of Arms, were rejected.
