It is a fairly typical Portuguese municipal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a plain purple field.

Coat of arms: 4 towered mural crown, scroll reading "VILA DE BOMBARRAL", and shield. The shield is very simple: silver with 3 bunches of purple grapes ordered 2:1.
Meaning:
The grapes mean wine.

Bombarral is a town in the south of the district of Leiria, old province of Estremadura, probable future region of Ribatejo e Oeste. The municipality is rather small, 90 km² of area and a bit over 12 400 inhabitants distributed in four communes. The economy is mostly rural.
