The lion is an attribute of Sã o Mamede, who was a herdsman accompanied by the lion, who kept away from the herd the numerous beasts in the area. Please note that explanation mentions a pine and an olive tree, the description just two pines. Sérgio Horta describes the mural crown with three towers but in his image , and on the municipal website there are four towers.
