Shield Or, five bees Gules in quincunx, in central chief a green cross fleury, Mural crown with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll reading in lack upper case letters "S. BENTO DO CORTIÇO".
Meaning:
The cross is referring to the Avis Order, which controlled nearly the complete territory of the nowadays municipality. The golden colour is alluding to apiary and the local riches of honey. The bees are symbolizing the numerous beehives (Portuguese: Cortiços) in the village, which disappeared in 1819. Flag and arms were designed by Carlos Eduardo da Cruz Luna.

Meaning:
The cross is referring to the Avis Order, the oil lamp to the Roman heritage.
