About the Flag

It is a fairly typical Portuguese municipal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a gyronny of eight of white and blue field.

Shield Argent in base two bars wavy, a rampant bear Sable armed and tongued Gules superimposed by a bend chequered of Gules and Argent. Mural crown Argent with five visible towers (city rank) and white scroll reading "MUNICÍPIO DE ODIVELAS" in black upper case letters.
Meaning:
The bend chequered might allude to the Cistercian Order.
