Shield Argent, an eradicated ash tree Vert, superimposed by a dog passant Gules, issuant from base a triplemount Vert. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll with inscription in black capitals "VILA CÃ".
Meaning:
Probably the dog (Port.: cão) is a punning element, as the etymology of "cão" is Latin "CANIS" ("dog"), and this town's name likely comes from Latin "CANVS" ("grey haired").
