Boa Ventura Commune is one of the three communes of the São Vicente municipality (q.v.), on central northern Madeira Island. This commune had 1537 inhabitants in 2001 and covers 26,20 km². The official spelling (according to the National Statistics Institute, i.a.) seems to be "boa ventura", as two words, according to the original meaning ("good luck"), but some sources, prefer the joint version "boaventura" (Bonaventure).
