On 7 March 1990, the Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Slovenia adopted constitutional amendments which, among other changes, renamed the state into the Republic of Slovenia. Two members of the Assembly, Mauricij Olenik and Ciril Baškovič, proposed a flag change to match the name change: the red star with gold fimbriation would be replaced with a plain yellow one. As both men were members of the League of Communists of Slovenia - Party of Democratic Renewal, which had adopted a flag with the yellow star a month earlier, they were accused by some non-Communist members of the Assembly that they intended to put the symbol of their party on the flag meant to be used by all the citizens. As no other proposals were submitted, the Assembly eventually decided to keep the flag unchanged until a new Constitution was adopted and the old flag remained in use until June 1991.

It shall be noted that the image shown above is just a reconstruction, because no picture of the flag proposal was added to the article, and its design was the first solution to suggest itself, and seemed to be the most logical one as well.
