The flag and arms of Dobrna are prescribed by Decision Odlok o istovetnostnih simbolih Občine Dobrna, adopted on 29 March 2001 and published in the official Slovene gazette Uradni list Republike Slovenije, No. 27.
The symbols were designed by Valt Jurečič of Heraldika d.o.o. and Heraldica Slovenica, who kindly provided drawings from which the images shown on this page were made.
The flag is rectangular, in proportions 2:5, blue with two vertical yellow stripes forming a square field in the middle of the flag containing the attribute of the coat of arms, the bowl sprinkling water.
The colour specifications, not listed in the Decision, are given by Stanič & Jakopič [j2s05] as:
- Dark yellow: Pantone 116
- Green: Pantone 355
- Blue: Pantone 293
- Black: Pantone Black

The coat of arms of Dobrna is in a blue field on a white fimbriated green double mount a golden bowl sprinkling water and in base two golden oak leaves in saltire.

The historical coat of arms of the town of Dobrna (image) was used before the adoption of the present coat of arms, as "Per pale argent a crow sable holding a ring in its beak and tierced per chevron issuing from sinister gules, argent and sable. Mantle dexter
sable and argent, sinister argent. In the crowned crest the crow
with the ring".
These arms were used by the Knights of Dobrna in 1567.
