A Czechoslovak firm and house flag unknown to me recently appeared on
the Binnenvaart
site: 'Československa aktiova spolecnost Dunajska' established at Bratislava,
currently Slovakia: In all, four vessels - all tugs - are featured, e.g.
'Krivan' (drawing of house flag): Direct
link to house flag, the yellow holding lines of which I am inclined
to ignore: White field with large and wide yellow anchor accompanied by
red initials "ČS" (left of anchor), "PD" (right of anchor), and red five-pointed
star (above anchor). At bottom, two narrow horizontal stripes, blue
above red.
I have found virtually nothing about this firm - years of activity
as mentioned on 'Binnenvaart' range between 1946 and 1992. It may
have existed before WWII though. List members' help is asked in translating
the name: "Czechoslovak Company Active on the Danube"?

"aktiova spolecnost" means simply "joint stock company" (Aktiengesellschaft
in German) while "Dunajska" is adjective form of Danube, probably
Dunajska was simple name by which it was widely known. I also suspect that
the JSC may be a name from 1990's, while it was during the communist period
named somewhat different (being probably a state owned company) and my
very tentative guess is that it might have been something like "Československa
plavba Dunajska" being very unsure about the second word.
BTW, note the Slovakian tricolour in the design! It seems somewhat
unusual, as I was under impression that the Slovakian tricolour was usually
avoided in the CSSR (but I may be wrong).
