In introducing the flag and the emblem of Bueng Kan province (http://202.143.171.227/bungkan/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=71&Itemid=85),
it is stated,
"Purple and white are the colors of the provinces of Bueng Kan and Nong Khai.
Bueng Kan province separated from Nong Khai province, but they still have
relations."

According to the Thai Ministry of Interior in 2000, the flag of Nong Khai is
horizontally divided black/red/black (1:2:1) with in the upper central part a
very different representation of the provincial seal on which are pink lotus
flowers. The image I made is after Mello Luchtenberg's image posted to
www.cyber-flag.net.
