The disctrict municipality of Battlagazi was established in 2014 as the merger of the former district municipalities of Malatya and Battalgazi.
The flag of Battalgazi (photo) is white with the municipality's emblem in the middle. "Belediyesi" means "Battalgazi Municipality".
