"The Coat of Arms of the Russian period had been taken
from a regimental banner which was granted to Chuhuivs'ky
regiment on the 14th of March 1752. The shield per fess with or
and argent of a gules stripe in fess. In the first part there are
two crossed sabers and in the second there is a bunch of
vine-leaves on a staff. On the belt there is a row of three
argent horned moons with their points up. The upper part shows
that the inhabitants of the town became famous in the struggles
with the Tartars and the Turks. The lower part shows that
viticulture was one of the main occupations of the local
inhabitants. The Coat of Arms was confirmed on the 21st of
September 1781.On the 20th of June 1995 town council session
confirmed the Coat of Arms of 1781 as an official symbol."

"City in Harkiv Oblast.For the first time it was
mentioned in the XIII century when the town belonged to the Kyiv
Rus' principalities - Pereyaslavs'ke and Chernigivs'ke.In 1622 an
emperial vineyard was planted around Chuhuiv which became the
biggest in Ukraine. "
