From the site of Ukrainian Heraldry:
"The square panel consists of three vertical strips. In the centre on the yellow field is green pine in height of 1/2 parties of the flag, equal parts from a staff and free edge identical consist of four green and four white horizontal strips which are equal of 1/8 heights of the flag."

"It was confirmed in December, 25th, 2002 by the decision of city council session. Per pale. Or; pine with the pulled out roots vert, in the dexter chief part is rising five-colour rainbow (gules, or, vert, azure, purple). The left field barry by vert and argent. The shield enframed by argent cartouche and crowned by argent city crown. The authors are O.Zhytnychenko and A.Zakorets'kyi.
On a cartouche under the crown is or flower of a peony, vegetative symbol of Lugans'ka oblast'. Under a cartouche is white-green-white tape with a white inscription "Rubizhne". The authors are O.Zhytnychenko and A.Zakorets'kyi.
Per pale board means city name - Rubizhne ("rubizh" means "border"). Four argent strips specify city conditions near Siversk'y Donets', Krasna and Borova rivers. The bottom strip means lakes: Katerynivs'ke, Glyboke, Velyke, Male, Kryve, Lopushne, Leneve, Bile, Crugle, Pischane. Vert strips symbolise old trees and green large forests. The pine on an or background immortalises the big human feat - artificial green forests on the sandy suburbs. The rainbow symbolises the first enterprises, which gave a life of the city, and specifies in industrial specialisation - manufacturing of chemical raw materials for the textile industry and defence."

The City

"It has been based after the termination of building of the railway Lysychans'k-Kupiansk between stations Lysychans'k and Kreminna near lake Bile in 1896. The station has received its name from the village Rubizhne based in 1770 near Siversk'y Donets' river. The name exists from the end of XVI century, since 1720 there was constucted the Ukrainian defensive line.
