Description of the flag

The gay flag of Arizona is derived from the state flag by repainting the red and gold rays into the rainbow colors. Several variants of this design can be found as the Web graphics, however the only one which seems to be really used is the one which is shown in Greg Gomes' collection of gay flags images: www.gayjourney.com/flags/gay_flags_state.htm and, unlike the most of others, is not marked as his creation. Here, the rays are repainted so that the central one remain red, the two next to it are purple, and then follow the succeeding colors of rainbow, ending with red again. A photo of the demonstration posters decorated with the images of this flag can be found here: www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-26363704 (Image: ichef.bbci.co.uk/news/624/media/images/73245000/jpg/_73245581_73245580.jpg) and dates from 2014-02-26, when the controversial bill SB 1062 was vetoed by the state Governor. The photo shows the opponents of the bill, gathered in front of the state Capitol and cheering the Governor's decision.

They all reveal that the posters were actually brought by members of the COEXIST Movement. Neither of photographed flagoids is without errors: all of them show the star in yellow instead of copper, blue rays are in the same shade as the bottom field instead of being lighter, and the number of rays and their colors are not always correct. Still it is clear that the model was the flag shown in Greg Gomes' collection.
