A horizontal triband, red-white-red, a blue canton two stripes deep, bearing two yellow inscribed ribbons, and the letters N and C, separated by a white star; in the upper two short stripes, the seal, and in the lower stripe the name Henderson, NC.

From www.blueridgenow.com/article/20140130/ARTICLES/140129848:
Wyatt said he's seen the "old" county flag - at least the closest thing to one. But he admits it's not the most aesthetically pleasing design.

"I think we've got one, but it's got a tomato on it," Wyatt said. "It's supposed to be an apple, but it's a tomato. And there's some blob behind it that may or may not be the outline of the county. You just can't tell what it is."

The "old" county flag incorporated the county's former logo, said Public Information Officer Christina Hallingse, which "I think somebody put together really quickly in Microsoft Word. It was sort of like a letterhead, almost."

Back in 2010, Hallingse was looking at redesigning the county's official logo - tomato and all - as part of a branding effort for Henderson County government. Hoping to involve citizens, she held a logo contest and solicited design ideas from local artists.
