Redrawn from the book "Flags to Color, Washington to Lincoln," and is on page 10. It's listed as the flag of the Nashville Battalion, 1813.
From the book -
"Colors: Field of the flag, buff; eagle light brown with yellow claws and beak; ribbon light blue; stars yellow; leaves green; flowers pink; motto black."
"Like many early flags, very little is known about this one. It was obviously lovingly embroidered by young ladies in the early nineteenth century for presentation to their husbands and boyfriends in an era when the military uniform was a very visible symbol of patriotism and masculinity. Moral sentiments such as the motto shown were common at the time and this one does not necessarily refer to the tightfisted state legislature which expected men to pay for their own uniforms and weapons. The background of the flag is a distinctive American color, buff, derived from uniforms in the Revolution and found in the flags of such states as New York, New Jersey, Delaware, and Maine at one time or another throughout our national history."
