Description of the flag

The city of Red Bank (12,418 inhabitants in 2002; 1,670 ha), incorporated in 1955 as a "Home Rule" City, is enclaved within the city of Chattanooga, Hamilton County. In the "Chattanooga Times Free Press", 7 October 2009, Kevin Hardy reports the unveiling of the new flag of Red Bank as follows:

"[...] The new flag was unveiled at Tuesday's City Commission meeting and is expected to hang over Red Bank's City Hall, police department, fire department and municipal parks, officials said.
[...] The flag was designed by Red Bank High School sophomore Chris Moore, who won a design contest sponsored by the commission.
[...] Red Bank Mayor Joe Glasscock said city commissioners chose the design because they felt it was "the most representative as to what we wanted for our city." The flag has two wide red and white stripes to the right, with the seal of the city over a blue backdrop to the left. The city's seal -- also designed by a Red Bank High School student -- was the only requirement for the new flag, the mayor said.[...]"

A colour photo shows the mayor presenting the new flag.

A visitor of the journal's website questions the need to change the former flag of Red Bank.

The flag is horizontally divided white-red with a vertical blue stripe placed along the hoist and charged with the city's seal. The city's seal, as shown on the city's website, is a white disk with a local landscape under a yellow sun and the US and Tennessee flags crossed per saltire. "City of Red Bank" / "Tennessee" is written in black letters on the seal's rim.
