The flag was adopted on April 27, 2015. Here is the text of the city council
resolution and my drawing of the flag.
The Town Council of the Town of
Sunnyvale hereby adopts as the official flag of the Town of Sunnyvale a flag of
the following general description:
The Sunnyvale flag is a rectangle that has
a width to length ratio of two to three. It contains one blue vertical stripe
that has a width equal to one-third the length of the flag, and two equal
horizontal stripes, with the upper stripe white, the lower stripe gold, and each
having a length equal to two-thirds the length of the flag. The flag has one
gold, thirty-two pointed sun with four compass points extending beyond the
lengths of the other sun rays. The sun is located in the center of the blue
stripe, oriented so that one longer point faces upward, one points downward, one
points left, and one to the right. These points represent the four communities
of Hattersville, Long Creek, New Hope, and Tripp, that joined to form the Town
of Sunnyvale. The remaining twenty-eight points alternate between straight and
angled points to form a sun.
