In Spotsylvania County, Virginia, are several communities that are self-contained residential neighborhoods that have the population of a small town, but none of the other infrastructure, and do not officially qualify for incorporated town status under Virginia law. There is no self-government, no emergency services, no stores, etc., just residential housing. In almost every case, the homes in the neighborhood are constructed by a single homebuilding company. Some of these subdivisions, though, the homebuilder endows with a neighborhood or subdivision flag that is flown at the entrance to the subdivision, along with the American and Virginia flags.
The Breckenridge subdivision in is central Spotsylvania County, about 6 miles north of Spotsylvania Courthouse. The houses in the subdivision were all built in the late 1990s and early 2000s. The entrance to the subdivision features three
flagpoles flying the American and Virginia flags, as well as the flag of the Breckenridge subdivision. The subdivision flag is green with the logo of the neighborhood in white. The logo consists of the white outline of two mountains with the sun rising over them. Below the mountains is the name of the subdivision in white capital letters, with the first and last letters larger than the others.
