The San Diego Chargers compete in the American Football Conference (AFC) West division of the National Football League (NFL). Their club was a charter member of the American Football League (AFL) in 1960 and they were known as the Los Angeles Chargers. They moved in the following year to San Diego becoming the San Diego Chargers in 1961. The Chargers became a NFL team as a result of the AFL-NFL merger in 1970. They played their home games at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego, but in 2017 they will return to Los Angeles.
The Chargers won one AFL title in 1963, and reached the AFL playoffs five times, and played in the AFL Championship four times. Since the Chargers became members of the NFL they have made 13 trips to the playoffs and four appearances in the AFC Championship game. In 1994 season, they played the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl XXIX, but lost 49-26.
Note: Be aware that there are a host of manufacturer's variants of these and other fan flags being marketed for "Chargers" fans. This includes garden flags, banners, and pennants.
