Sigma Phi Epsilon was founded at the University of Richmond in 1901. It has two flags, the basic "ritual" flag and the "display" flag. The former is purple with a red band, fimbriated in gold, running from upper hoist to lower fly and a gold star on the center. The display flag is the same, but with the Greek letters of the name in the upper fly and the Greek letters designating the chapter in the lower hoist, all in gold. The image shows the ritual flag.

I saw a variant of the Sigma Phi Epsilon (SigEp) fraternity that was different from what we have reported before. This is a modification of the Chapter flag, in which at the top fly is the name of SigEp in their Greek letters and the bottom hoist is the chapter designation (only the Greek letter, so in the case of Arkansas Tech's chapter, it would only have E (for Epsilon) though it is officially Arkansas Epsilon). With this variant, the chapter designation is removed and all that remains is the Greek name of SigEp at the top fly.

A second flag [was seen] during the dance presentation (step show) and it was not the chapter flag either. It was a black flag with their Balanced Man program (more details at www.sigep.org/memdev/bmp.asp). This black flag had the logo of the Balanced Man program at www.sigmaphiepsilon.org/images/balanced_man.gif and the name Sigma Phi Epsilon on top in white (in all caps that I could tell).
