The rainbow flag

The Texas rainbow flag is derived from the state flag by replacing white and red fields by six rainbow colors. This is the third state gay flag in the USA, after those of Maryland and California, and is also another local gay flag which employs two shades of blue. The earliest appearance of this design was at the GayJourney.COM website and is marked as having been designed by the site's author, Greg Gomes. The flag, with a bit different color shades, can be bought at several web shops, like ADL Books, Just Pride, Always Proud and Over the Rainbow Shop. All of these shops offer flags with aspect ratio 3:5. However, the only example of the flag use in real life so far, at a rally in Dallas, Texas on 2008-11-28 shows a flag with the aspect ratio 2:3, the same as that of the state flag and of the flag from the GayJourney.COM website. The rainbow colors also have different shades here, especially orange and blue, which are much lighter than on most of other rainbow flags, although the uses of these or even lighter shades of those two colors were also recorded on the Web.

The described flag (above) uses color shades are based on those from the Dallas photo.

Pink triangle flag

The flag derived from the state flag of Texas by replacing of the white star with a pink triangle was presented at Chris Pinette's website: www.pinette.net/chris/flags/gay/index.html as an LGBT flag which was gaining popularity at the time. The earliest capture of this page at Internet Archive dates from 2000-05-23, while the latest one dates from 2005-09-21, but it just repeats the original information. Consequently, the flag must have already been in use during the 1990s, but must have also fallen out of use since then, having been replaced by other designs, such as the Texas rainbow flag which, according to this, shall no longer be considered the third, but the fourth state gay flag in the USA.
