The Flag - Attributes and Semiology: Consists in a field with
approximated ratio 1:2; this is, two squares of length divided in
three vertical strips: gray to the hoist, occupying almost the
fourth part of the field; white on the center, occupying the
eighth part of the field and blue to the fly, occupying the
remaining space. Off-centered to the hoist on the three strips
appears a radiating sun where appears a streamlined semblance of
the local landscape. The gray stripe remembers the Strength and
the Tenacity of the worker, fighter, vigorous and seasoned people
whom impels the Municipality development. The white stripe
alludes to to the spiritual greatness of the Cañaderian men and
women expressed through their Faith and Devotion by their matron
the Virgin Mary; on the one hand and by the other, remembers
their generosity, solidarity and brotherhood: virtues which with
the passage of time have allowed to give origin to the slogan
that characterizes the locality "Tierra de Amigos para hacer
Amigos" ("Land of Friends to make Friends"). The
blue stripe symbolizes the men and women example of the
Cañaderian gentilitious which form part of the History of
Venezuela, Zulia State and Municipality and also represents the
intellectuals, professionals, artists and students of the
locality whom have given and give the best thing of his lives for
impels its total development. The sun remembers the warm and
tropical climate which characterizes the Municipality. The
streamlined landscape alludes to its more important geographic,
zoological and economic characteristics: the Lake of Maracaibo,
main hydrographic source of the Municipality, element of
integration with other towns and main scene of transcendental
historical facts on the Independence History of Venezuela; the
coconut palm places that delight the Cañaderian and the visitor,
allowing appreciating the coolness and serenity of the coasts;
the vegetation that allows the culture of the field and the
agricultural operation; the fish, which remembers the fishing
production; the head of cattle that alludes to the cattle
production; the tower, that symbolizes the oil production and the
iguana, typical animal of the savannah and forests of the
locality.
Historical Synthesis: Created on October 30th, 1997 by Engineer
Douglas Villasmil and the Superior Universitary Tecnician
Alexander Perea, was officially established on April 19th, 1998.
Coat of Arms - Attributes: Consists in a
german field with a straight superior contour and one quarter
enameled in Azur (blue) on which appears a diminished fess in Or
(yellow) superimposed by a roundel in Gules (red) superimposed
too by an oil tower in the middle of two terraced coconut palms,
accompanied to the dexter by a fish and to the sinister by a
cattle head, all in its colors. As external ornaments the blazon
presents as crest two pennants striped in Or (yellow), Azure
(blue) and Gules (red): one with the denomination of the
Municipality and the another loading the ephemeris "27 DE
JUNIO DE 1989" (June 29th, 1989) and as supports a branch of
nopal to the dexter and another one of cactus to the sinister,
jointed under the base by means of another pennant striped in Or
(Yellow), Azure (blue) and Gules (red) charging as mottoes the
following ephemeris: "08 DE DICIEMBRE DE 1752" (Deember
08th, 1752), "28 DE DICIEMBRE DE 1872" (December 28th,
1872) and "30 DE MARZO DE 1882" (March 30th, 1882).
Semiology: The roundel symbolizes the sun reflecting its light -
represented by means of the diminished fess in Or - on the Lake
of Maracaibo for remember the warm and tropical climate of the
Municipality. The Lake of Maracaibo main hydrographic source of
the Municipality, element of integration with another towns and
main scene of transcendental historical facts in the Independence
History of Venezuela; specially, The Naval Batlle that was
developed on July 24th, 1823 where was covered with glory
Commander Tomás Vega, native of the locality. The coconut palms
constitute expression of the landscape that delights the
Cañaderian and the visitor, allowing them feeling the coolness
and the serenity of the coasts of the Municipality from which it
left the copra exportation for all the continent. The terrace
alludes to the vegetation which makes possible the culture of the
field and the agricultural operation. The fish, the head of
cattle and the tower, represent the fishing, cattle and petroleum
production of the Municipality, fundamental bases of its economy
which also contribute to the regional and national development.
The superior pennants reaffirm the identity of Municipality and
rebound the date in which it was elevated to its present
geopolitical condition by disposition of the Legislative Assembly
of Zulia State. The nopal and the cactus reminds the predominant
flora in the locality and alludes to the strength of their native
ones for adapt theirselves to the conditions of the climate. The
inferior pennant rebounds respectively the date in which it took
place third and definitive foundation of the Municipality; the
date in which it was established the Bolivar Disctrict and
the date when was re-baptized as Urdaneta District.
Historical Synthesis: Created in January of 1990 by the Lawyer
Nectario Boscán, it was officioally established on June 10th
that year.
